Dental FAQs

Should I arrive early for my appointment?

Yes! Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start-time of your appointment.  This allows time for you to fill out any necessary paperwork and/or update us with any changes to your insurance.

How long do I have to wait to eat after having work done?

Our general rule of thumb is to wait until the numbness wears off before eating to avoid biting your lip, cheek or tongue.  Apart from the issue of being numb, white fillings become hard when the blue UV light is applied, and are therefore ready for chewing when you leave the office.  Alternatively, silver fillings take approximately 24 hours to reach peak strength.  One hour after placement they are typically hard enough for soft foods and beverages.

What should I bring with me to my first appointment?

Please bring the following items: A form of photo ID (such as driver's license, passport, or military ID), dental insurance card (if applicable), and our new patient welcome packet (includes patient registration form, HIPAA consent form, patient medical history form, and patient authorization form.)

How long will my appointment last?

The length of our appointments vary according to what procedure you have scheduled.  However, most appointments range between thirty minutes and one hour.  For instance, new patient cleanings and check-ups last approximately one hour.
