Resin & Amalgam Fillings

Resin Fillings

Composite resin fillings are tooth-colored fillings that bond to your teeth to repair areas of decay and restore dental health.  Resin fillings are a beautiful way to treat minor defects and small areas of decay.

Amalgam Fillings

Amalgam fillings, also known as "silver" fillings are also used to repair dental decay.  Amalgam does not bond to the tooth in the way that resin fillings do, but rather, is held in place by mechanical retention through undercuts placed in the tooth structure when removing decay. Amalgam fillings are very strong and can last for many years in the mouth.
